As the audio transformer usage become more and more widely, so it's important to know its measurement. When you add an audio transformer to any application–whether it's inside a microphone, attached to a circuit board or in remodeling an antique radio–you need to ensure that its physical dimensions allow it to fit. Round or toroidal audio transformers have two dimensions: diameter and thickness. Base-mounted and circuit board-mounted audio transformers have measurements for height, length and width, and some have measurements between the mounting holes.
Instructions
1 Place the audio transformer on a flat surface. If the transformer is round, place it flat so that it doesn’t roll. If it has pins to mount it to a printed circuit board, place it upside down with the pins pointing up.
2 Measure and record the height or thickness. Hold the ruler perpendicular to the flat surface. With circuit board mounted audio transformers, do not include the length of the connection leads.
3 Measure and record the length or diameter. Measure your audio transformer at its longest point, including the bulge. If it has a base, measure the longest dimension.
